Why use Kaolin Clay in Soap?
Kaolin clay has many benefits to the skin, and there are many different types of Kaolin clay to choose from. Each type has different features and benefits that can help to enhance your home made soap. So, why use Kaolin Clay in soap? Because why not!
One of my favorite reasons to use Kaolin clay in soap is that it helps to withdraw any toxins and impurities in the skin. Not only that, but it also helps the skin retain moisture, which is always a great feature in a soap.
If you have oily skin, having a soap that features kaolin clay can really help your skin. The kaolin clay in the soap helps to absorb extra oil, but is mild enough that it will not dry your skin out.
You can use Kaolin clay in more than just your soap though! I personally use it in my bath bombs, homemade cosmetics, shampoos and lotions!
It is a great addition to shampoos because it contains silica, which means it helps to increase circulation and cleanses the hair. It can also increase the elasticity and help to strengthen your hair.
Different types of Kaolin Clay
- White Kaolin Clay – Gentle and great for sensitive skin
- Yellow Kaolin Clay – Has a gentle exfoliating factors and is more absorbent than white kaolin clay.
- Red Kaolin Clay – Most absorbent kaolin clay and great for oily, or acne prone skin.
